Messina Hof   Shines at San Antonio Express News Wine Competition

Forty Percent of Awarded Texas Medals Go To Bryan Winery

 

BRYAN,TEXAS — (February 28, 2006)  Messina Hof Winery & Resort wins 18 medals, more than any other winery, at the 26th Annual San Antonio Express News Wine Competition.    

 

With seven silver and 11 bronze medals, Messina Hof brings home 40 percent of all medals awarded to Texas wines. Among its awarded wines are one “Best of Class” and nine “Best of Texas” winners.  The competition had about 760 entries from more than 12 countries. 

 

“We are honored that Messina Hof led such a wonderful field of award-winning wines,” said, Paul Bonarrigo, CEO and winemaker for Messina Hof, Paulo and Traditions Cellars wineries. “We put our heart and soul into every bottle, and to know that the wines we are producing continue to be so highly regarded among our peers in the wine industry is quite an honor.”

 The winning wines were featured at various events throughout the two-day wine festival.  Messina Hof’s portfolio of wines represented well at the black-tie Wine Opener, the Champagne Brunch and of course the Fine Wine & Cuisine Tasting all held the weekend of February 17. Founders and owners Paul & Merrill Bonarrigo were on hand to share Messina Hof wines and visit with attendees.  All funds raised from the events benefit San Antonio ’s local public broadcast station KLRN.
