Haak Winery Expands Facility & Production

Haak Vineyards & Winery, Galveston County ’s first & only winery has recently expanded its production facility and capacity.

Haak Winery was established and bonded in 2000 in the small Gulf coast City of Santa Fe , Texas .  It is the first winery and the only winery in Galveston County .  It is situated on a 12 acre estate only about 10 miles from the warm coastal waters of West Bay between Galveston Island and the Texas coast.

Due to increasing demand the winery’s original five (5) year expansion plan had to be executed 18 months after its official opening.  The winery has increased its production capacity in each of the three previous vintages since its opening.  The winery’s first year, 2000, produced 3,650 gallons of wine.  In 2001, it produced 8,350 gallons.  The year of 2002, saw the production increase to over 12,800 gallons of wine.  In order to increase the production, the physical size of the winery was increased from 8,400 sq. ft. to over 11,000 sq. ft. and two (2) new wine tanks were added bringing the winery capacity to over 20,000 gallons of cooperage & fermentation capacity.  This includes a large roof over the patio, where concerts & festivals are held year round.  A new bandstand was built for these events and a new one (1) acre parking lot was added to accommodate event parking.  Construction was completed in July of 2002.

While production has been steadily increasing, sales have been increasing at a higher rate than production.  The winery has been
